N. Korea Rebukes U.S. Unilateral Sanctions as "Hostile Intention"

(MENAFN) North Korea's Foreign Ministry issued a sharp rebuke Thursday against United States sanctions, dismissing the punitive measures as ineffective and signaling prolonged resistance, state media reported.

"Recently, the new U.S. administration has imposed its exclusive sanctions on the DPRK, the fifth of their kind since its assumption of office," Kim Un Chol, vice-minister for U.S. affairs at the foreign ministry, stated according to a North Korean news agency.

The current US administration demonstrates its "invariable hostile intention towards the DPRK again in an accustomed and traditional way," Kim declared, emphasizing that "the U.S. sanctions will have no effect on the DPRK's thinking and viewpoint on it in the future."

Kim warned that Washington must recognize a fundamental reality: no amount of sanctions pressure will alter the strategic balance between the two nations in America's favor, regardless of how extensively the United States deploys its economic weaponry.
"Now that the present U.S. administration has clarified its stand to be hostile towards the DPRK to the last, we will also take proper measures to counter it with patience for any length of time," Kim added.

The statement marks the fifth round of sanctions imposed by the new US administration against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) since taking office, according to a report released by the news agency on Thursday. Pyongyang's defiant response signals no willingness to modify its position despite escalating economic penalties from Washington.
